Orthotics are a great way to help with issues related to walking and alignment, including knee, foot, and lower back pain. They can help to realign the bones in the foot and ankle, and take stress off other parts of the body, such as the back, neck, shoulders, and hips. They can help with a variety of problems from bunions, metatarsalgia, heel pain, plantarfasciitis, and ankle pain. Custom foot orthotics also cushion your feet, provide comfort, support your arches, and evenly distribute your body weight to eliminate pressure on your feet.
How Do Orthotics Work?
Custom foot orthotics are specially-made devices that fit inside most shoes. They match the contours of your feet precisely, and are designed for the way you move.
Orthotics can help anyone with discomfort relating to walking, or imbalances in the body that are known to cause related pain. A tremendous benefit of custom orthotics is that they can be worn on a daily basis and utilized during most activities.
Why custom orthoses? Dr. Fowler has extensive training in the use of orthoses. He used to own a lab that, like many others, manufactured foot orthoses for podiatrists….aka Foot doctors. His experience led him to understand that almost ALL foot orthoses are made with the arch too low, and try to control the foot from an angled heel base know as a varus or valgus post. Unfortunately, these orthoses are often ineffective at controlling the arch height and are uncomfortable as the foot slams into the orthotic shell, producing pain. Without full arch support, they often don’t help. In example, plantarfasciitis is a common problem that can be difficult to treat with therapy and conventional foot orthoses. With full mass casting technology and no varus or valgus posts, the success rate is nearly 100% and will eliminate the problem forever. Interested in incorporating orthotics into your treatment plan?
